When you’re on a cruise ship, floating through international waters, you might think that you can get away with almost anything. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. In fact, there are some hard and fast things that a traveler can do that will be immediate grounds for dismissal aboard a commercial cruise ship.
While some of the following 10 things that will get you kicked off a cruise ship are fairly obvious, some are not. So, if you’re planning on hitting the high seas in the near future, then make sure you read this list. Here are the things you don’t want to do if you’re hoping to stay on your ship for its full journey!
1. Skipping the Muster Drill
Veteran cruisers know what a pain-in-the-neck the muster drill is. But, it’s mandatory, and playing hooky will get you detention.
2. Missing the Departure Time
For a cruise to be successful, it must leave and arrive when the ship says it will. Don’t expect the cruise ship to wait for you if you’re running behind.
3. Throw Stuff Overboard
It doesn’t matter if its just a finished cigarette or something larger, getting caught throwing things overboard will get your thrown overboard.
4. Joking About “Man Overboard”
You know how you’re not supposed to yell “fire” in a crowded theater or talk about bombs in an airport. Well, “man overboard” is no laughing matter on a cruise ship.
5. Bringing Your Booze
While cruise ships used to cast a “blind eye” toward booze snuck on board, things are changing these days… Don’t chance it.
6. Bringing Your Stash
Hey, you probably already knew that you shouldn’t bring illicit drugs on a cruise ship… So, consider this a friendly reminder.
7. Underage Drinking
You might want to let your 20-year-old have a margarita or two, but don’t do it. Getting caught giving booze to underage folks will get you booted.
8. Start a Fight
Just like anywhere else, cruise ships frown upon their passengers coming to blows. Be the big person and walk away.
9. Stealing
Cruise ships mark things up pretty exorbitantly, leading some to think about taking the five-finger discount. Don’t be similarly tempted.
10. Get Really Sick
Doctors on board can help you through your normal maladies. However, if things get serious, then you’re heading for the nearest hospital ASAP.
