Disney World is the most popular family vacation destination on the entire planet. Hands down. In fact, if you’re reading this, then we’re willing to bet that you’ve got a trip planned there for sometime in the near future. (Or, at the very least, you’re likely dreaming of taking that Disney World trip with the kids sometime soon!)
Whatever the case, you’re going to be on Disney World’s grounds at some point; when you are, you have to know what NOT to do just as much as what you want to do. With that in mind, here are 10 Disney World mistakes that you absolutely shouldn’t make!
1. The Iron Fist
Everyone has different things they want to do at Disney. Let every family member have a say about what the day’s events should be. Don’t rule with an iron fist!
2. Not Having a Plan
Still, giving everyone a say in the day’s events shouldn’t be an excuse not to have a plan. Without a plan, you could find yourself not being able to do much during any given day.
3. The Bad Diet
When you’re trying to get everything in, it can be tempting to eat the park’s fast food. That’s fine every once in awhile, but take the time to find some of the more ‘respectable’ eateries.
4. Sleeping In
The early bird catches the worm! This is especially true at Disney, where the first few hours after the park opens are the perfect time to check out the big rides.
5. Biting Off More than You Can Chew
Did you know that Disney World is bigger than Manhattan? Like twice as big? Now that you know this, remember you can’t do everything in one day. Take it easy!
6. Force Your Kids on the Characters
To some kids, that person in a Mickey Mouse costume can be kind of scary. Don’t make them swallow their fear! Instead, let them come to Mickey (and his friends) in their own time.
7. The Unbreakable Family
Sure, you want to be with your whole family while you’re in Disney, but remember sometimes its necessary to divide in order to conquer…
8. Cheap Hotel Deals
Those cheap hotel deals may seem appealing, but remember that you’ll be trading money spent on your room for time spent in traffic…
9. Not Taking It In
Disney World is an elaborately constructed amusement park, perhaps more so than any other. Stop and smell the roses, literally and metaphorically. There’s more to see than just the rides!
10. Different Strokes for Different Folks
Disney World may be family friendly, but that doesn’t mean that every ride is appropriate for kids of all age. Use your judgment when it comes to the scarier rides like the Haunted Mansion and others.
