1. Skellig Michael
Situated along the coastline of Ireland, this UNESCO World Heritage site is home to an old monasatic temple.
Treacherous trails, which climb the cliff face up to the temple, have claimed the lives of at least three hikers in recent years.
2. Mont Blanc
It’s a mountain so beautiful that it inspired one of the most famous Romantic poems of all time.
Beautiful thought it may be, it seems that at least a few hikers and skiers meet there makers here every year.
3. Boa Viagem Beach
This stretch of beach in Recife, Brazil, is one of the most beautiful that the country has to offer.
It’s just too bad that it’s home to frequent shark attacks, something that’s led to the beach being permanently closed to swimmers.
4. Caminito Del Rey
If you’re after some out-of-this-world views, you’ll want to check out the recently reopened Caminito Del Rey, which is 100-meters in the air.
Hopefully the restoration work that’s been done to the trail is effective, as its previous instability led to a handful of deaths.
5. Half Dome
Based in Yosemite, this treacherous hike sees plenty of travellers every single year.
Many of them are amateurs though, and more than a few have slipped on the wet rocks, falling to their deaths.
6. Colorado River
For many adventurous travellers, white-water rafting on the Colorado is a bucket list item.
You might want to make it the last item on your bucket list, though, because many have died while rafting on the rapids.
7. Pamplona Running of the Bulls
If you’re a traveller that likes to keep things exciting, then this yearly event has to be one that’s on your list.
Since 1910, fifteen spectators have met their makers during an encounter with one of the bulls. There’s no telling how many have been injured.
8. Yungas Road
This single-lane road, which passes through the mountains in Bolivia, carries both bicyclists and motorists.
The treacherous terrain, along with the blind turns, lack of guardrails and high cliffs, has made it one of the deadliest places in the world.
